FAQ’s

Who can do CrossFit?

CrossFit workouts are scalable to ALL fitness levels.  If one movement can not be performed then a similar but easier movement will be substituted.  For example:  If you can not do a push up with your feet on the floor, you then drop to your knees.  If a movement can not be performed due to the use of a heavy weight, the weight is decreased.

Why do I have to take fundamental sessions prior to joining a class?

CrossFit moves are functional and use several muscle groups at one time.  In a conventional gym you use machines to assist and support you to do one limb movements that use 1-2 muscles.  (ex Bench press you are lying on a bench supporting your core and legs while just moving your arms)  However, in CrossFit you use your own body and core to perform the movements and often use more than six muscle groups.  You need to make sure you are performing the exercises correctly as there are more chances for injury if not performed correctly.  For a sample of a CrossFit move and muscles used watch this video of the Thruster.

What is WOD?

WOD means Workout of the Day:  Every day CrossFit.com and Affiliates post work outs for their clients.  Clients can then post their workout times and compare to other participants at their own Gym or other CrossFit affiliates.

How many days a week should I work out?

CrossFit workout regime is 3 days on 1 day off.  BeMore CrossFit’s Blog WOD’s will be posted according to that.  However, every individual recovers differently and has different goals such as to lose weight, to get stronger or faster or to just get fit.   Thus it is up to the individual and or his or her trainer to decide what workout regime is best for their individual needs.

Is there a trainer on site at all times to help?

Yes all classes and fundamental sessions are with a qualified CrossFit instructor.

How do I join CrossFit classes?

Before you join a CrossFit class you must take 2-3 fundamental sessions to learn all the CrossFit exercises.  After that you can pay for a set of 10, 15, or 20 classes or you can pay individual drop in fees.  Once you pay you may sign up for any class that has space available.  You must call or e-mail to reserve a spot in a class.

What if I reserve a spot in a class and do not attend?

You must give 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a class or it will be forfeited.
